In the early 70s, Deda and I climbed 14,259 ft Long's Peak. We camped about half way up, hid our big ol' backpacks in the bushes the next day, picking them back up on the way down. Although we were caught in a fierce lightning and hail storm above tree line on the way down, I have always been proud that we did it. Btw, my dad carved those hickory hiking sticks.
On a lighter note, when Amy was born (1982), the Arvada Center Chorale gave our family this tree to commemorate the happy event. (Which, by the way, happened during the wee hours after a Chorale dress rehearsal!) Here is Rich, a Chorale member and landscaper, after he and I planted this perfect little spruce.
